Autumn skincare in 4 steps

Autumn skincare in 4 steps

Now that the temperatures are dropping, it’s time to change up your skincare routine to keep your skin protected, nourished and healthy. The good news is you don’t need a whole new skincare routine: just follow these four simple steps for an all-round routine that’ll get you and your skin through the winter months.

Model using Hyaluronic Fix Extreme4 Gel Cream

  • Step 1: Keep exfoliating, but add a hydration step after

Chances are you’re using an exfoliant that’s targeted to your specific skin concern (so salicylic for oily and blemish-prone, glycolic for congestion and dullness, and so on). Skin still needs these treatments in winter to keep it clear from dead skin and build up, so you should carry on using them, but add in a hydration step after using to help soothe skin, reduce the chance of irritation and enhance the benefits of all those actives. Our Hyaluronic Fix Extreme4 Concentrate is ideal for this as it’s lightweight and easily absorbed, so good for layering. Alternatively, if your skin starts to feel a little sensitive but you still want some exfoliation, try our Mandelic + Charcoal Fix range – mandelic acid is a gentler exfoliant.

  • Step 2: Rediscover retinol

If you paused your retinol use over summer, or haven’t yet introduced it to your evening skincare routine, now is the time to start. Retinol is a cell-communicating ingredient that encourages younger cells through the skin, which in turn helps to heal any pigmentation caused by sun exposure. It also stimulates collagen production to keep skin smooth and supple, and fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Check out our Retinol Fix range, which includes night creams, concentrates and serums that will slot easily into your routine.

  • Step 3: Add in niacinamide

Niacinamide, or form of vitamin B, is a true skincare wonder ingredient. As well as being an oil-controller and helping to reduce redness and blemishes, it also helps maintain the skin barrier function and promotes elasticity. Add it in at any stage of your routine – our Retinol Fix Booster Extreme and Anti-Redness SPF 30 Moisturiser are two hero products that contain it.

  • Step 4: Switch up your moisturiser

Many of us switch moisturisers in summer to something more lightweight, and some of us may even just use a hydrating SPF. But in autumn, especially if you have dry or mature skin, you should consider switching to something to aid repair and regeneration. For mature skin at night, we recommend our Retinol Fix Overnight Cream, which is formulated with hyaluronic acid to hydrate and matrixyl 3000, a peptide that boosts collagen production (just don’t forget your SPF the morning after). If you have an oilier complexion, don’t feel you need to switch to a heavier cream: you can add a hydration shot in the form of our Hyaluronic Fix Extreme 4 Concentrate or even our Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Shot, which is also great for soothing dry, sensitive skin. If you’re looking for two all-round hydrating and nourishing moisturisers, our Hyaluronic Fix Extreme4 Hybrid Gel Cream and Nourishing SPF 30 are go-tos.
